Regalia cap, gown and stole
Regalia orders for Fall 2026 are now open. Reserve regalia here: Welcome to Build-A-Grad Website. The deadline to order regalia is September 15, 2026.
You must wear regalia to be part of the ceremony.
Regalia pick-up opens at 8:30 a.m. on October 9th in the TCC fieldhouse. Regalia must not leave campus and must be returned 90 minutes after the ceremony ends. Graduands not returning regalia will be invoiced for the full replacement costs. The cap and tassel are yours to keep as a memento from your convocation.
Take weather conditions into consideration and ensure that your footwear is comfortable.
If you have booked private graduation photos and require regalia, a limited selection of regalia is available to rent from Wolfie’s Campus Store. Please email campusstore@tru.ca with the date you would like to rent regalia and your program to verify availability and pricing.Rented regalia is only available for on-campus pick-up, shipping is not available.

Each graduate is allowed to bring four guests. Doors will open one hour prior to ceremony start time. Additional information will be available soon.
Arrival and check-in procedure
Arrive 90 minutes before your ceremony. All ceremonies take place at the Tournament Capital Centre.
- Arrive at 8:30 a.m. for the 10 a.m. ceremony
Look for the check-in station. You will be directed from there.
- Check in and receive your name card.
- Proceed to the gowning area.
- Proceed to the academic procession lineup.
If you arrive very late, you may not be able to participate.
Academic procession
Once you have gone through the check-in and gowning, you will line up near the sign for your program in the order of your procession number on your name card. Your procession number is your place in line and indicates the order of appearance of when you will cross the stage. Convocation assistants will help you. Make sure you keep your name card for handing to the stage usher.
The academic procession is scheduled to start punctually. It is led by the registrar, the platform party, faculty and graduands.
Walking across the stage
When it is time to cross the stage, you will be escorted by an usher. You must bring your name card so your name can be announced on stage. Hand your name card to the usher on the stage.
Please return to your seat after walking across the stage. As a sign of respect to the other graduates, we ask that you stay until the end of the ceremony.
Credentials certificates, diplomas, degrees
Students who attend the convocation ceremony, and who have met all the requirements for graduation, will receive their credentials as they come off the stage.
Students who cannot attend will receive their credentials by mail.
Parchment mailing will be completed 4 weeks after the convocation ceremony. Tracking on mailed parchments is not available.
Digital copies of credential parchments are not available.
If you have received your parchment in the mail because you gradated earlier in the year but are registered to attend convocation, you will receive a certificate of participation at the ceremony.
Accessibility
The TCC is a wheelchair accessible venue. Please note that the TCC does not have wheelchairs available for guest use. Live captioning services are available during the ceremony. If you are a graduate who has concerns about participating in the academic procession, or if you have other questions or concerns related to accessibility, please contact ceremonies@tru.ca.
There are designated accessible parking spots at the Tournament Capital Centre. TCC visitors displaying a valid parking permit for people with disabilities can park for free and do not need to register their licence plate. Those requiring parking for more than two hours can make arrangements with staff at the TCC front counter.

Frequently asked questions
Can you provide a letter of invitation to convocation to support my family’s visa application?
TRU does not provide a letter of invitation. You must write the letter of invitation yourself. For convocation, the letter should include your graduation approval (from your myTRU account) and a link to the convocation website: Convocation

I received my credential in the mail today, but I would still like to attend the next convocation ceremony. What do I receive at the ceremony?
You received your credential in the mail because you graduated earlier in the year. You are welcome to apply to participate in the ceremony, and at the ceremony you will receive a certificate of participation.
How do I check if I am registered for convocation?
To check your graduation application status, you will need to go to your MyTRU portal.
Under the Academic Record tab, you can click on Academic Profile.
This will show you your TRU profile. Look for the Graduation Information header and next to Graduation Applications: click on the word Active.
This will show the current status on the fourth line, including your convocation RSVP status.
Graduation approvals are completed the month before convocation.
How do I receive my credential if I am unable to attend the convocation ceremony?
If you are unable to attend the ceremony, the Registrar’s Office will mail your credential - provided you have fulfilled the requirements to graduate. Ensure you have applied to graduate.Credential mailing is complete 4 weeks after convocation.
Is regalia provided to me for the convocation ceremony?
Regalia is ordered through Gaspard and students must pre-order their regalia to participate in the ceremony. If you applied to graduate prior to July 31, 2026, you will receive a link to order your regalia. Regalia must be returned within 90 minutes of the ceremony and if it is not returned, you will be invoiced for the full replacement cost.
What should I wear under my regalia?
Wear comfortable shoes that are suitable for the procession and weather conditions. TRU uses black gowns and caps, so black shoes, slacks, dress or skirt will blend with the regalia. We recommend you remove your coat or jacket before you put on your gown as it can get very warm during the ceremony.
I am graduating and I have accessibility concerns regarding standing and/or walking for extended periods at convocation and/or I have a mobility device, can I be accommodated?
If you wish to be in the procession, we will arrange a chair for you in the procession waiting line. Arrangements can be made to provide you with an accessible aisle seat if required. We can also provide you with additional space for a service animal, mobility device, or attendant. The ceremony takes place on the ground floor, and the stage has a ramp on both sides, so no stairs are required.
Graduands or their guests should contact ceremonies@tru.ca if additional accommodation or access provisions are required or see an assistant on the day of your ceremony to notify them of your concerns.
Are graduates limited to a certain number of guests at the ceremony?
Guest tickets: You are limited to four guests. Doors will open one hour prior to ceremony start time. Additional information about guest attendance will be available closer to the ceremony.
I have a guest with accessibility needs and requires family assistance. What arrangements are available?
The TCC has designated parking spots for people with a parking permit for people with disabilities. However, for events that have high traffic, these spaces may fill up quickly. We suggest family or friends come early or drop off their guest close to the venue. We also have a parking shuttle available for those parking in Lot N with limited mobility.
There is reserved audience seating for those with accessibility needs and accompanying guests.
Can my child cross the stage with me?
Yes. Children are to sit with a trusted adult in audience seating. Graduates that would like to cross the stage with their children can have their child brought backstage before they cross. After your cross the stage, your child must go back to their seat in the audience. Children must always remain under the supervision of a trusted adult.
